2010 honda goldwing
should I trade my Suzuki 650EX Burgman (less than 1 yr) for a 2010 Honda Goldwing?

We purchased the Burgman in Aug 2009, have ridden about 2200 mi, love it, but are planning a 3500 mile roundtrip through Yellowstone, Glacier National Park etc. We have enjoyed the Burgman, but think a Goldwing maybe more comfortable for taking long drives. We have considered adding an All day seat to the burgman for comfort, but that is at least $900 cost, and instead of putting more $ into it, just go for the Goldwing. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Get whatever you want and can afford. For a reasonable use now- find a sheepskin seat cover or make one from a washable tanned sheepskin pelt-$50.00 to $120.00 at rally 2 years back, $65.00 for a medium size part Merino pelt from sheep raiser I know. Or Faux sheepskin seat cover for a car that is $29.95 at Wall-mart, couple large safety pins/blanket pins to fold it around seat and pin to Burgman.Note that trade in of Burgman for Honda will little value -used vehicle are 1/2 value from new a 1000 miles use. 3500 mile round trip- 4 days at 600 miles a day is reasonable if straight highway to get to destination for sort of beginning riders, 5 days back. If you’ve only gotten 2200 mile experience riding- stick to current known scooter and plan on 2 weeks of less than 500mile days ride with sight seeing. Are you planning to camp? Throw over seat saddlebags and small backpacks handy. Pack light for warm weather, carry raincoat. WE implies 2 up riding, maybe check into motel every other night or all motel sleeping. Burgman rep is good, better ride than old hardtail choppers and 650 BSA I road to rallies and interstate runs. Goldwing is a good cycle- I have a old one- but is heavy and I can’t recommend it for a new rider for a long trip. If you’ve cycle camped before and have 10,000 miles on previous cycles-OK, but you don’t note any other experience/mileage on 2 wheels. p
