Cadillac SRX

The Cadillac SRX is a luxury crossover sport utility vehicle. It has gone through two different incarnations. The first generation of the SRX that the Cadillac had to offer borrowed some of the design components of the rear wheel drive CTS sports sedan, adding options such as a third row of seating and a V8 engine. The second generation of SRX instead uses a front wheel drive, it is smaller, offering less seating, and the engine lines available top out at a V6.

As with the majority of crossovers, the SRX borrows more of its design features from cars than from trucks. The end product is smoother to ride in, handles better, and gets moving faster than a more truck inspired design would.

The second generation of SRX, again, is smaller. It was released in 2010. The V6 it comes with offers up 265 horsepower and 223 pound-feet of pulling power. Buyers also have the option of deciding to purchase a meatier V6 with 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The former can be purchased with either front wheel drive or all wheel drive, while the latter is available only with an all wheel drive.

One of the best things about the SRX is the plentiful offering of equipment that comes standard with the vehicle. The basic model features a power drive seat, 60/40 split folding and reclining rear seats, an eight speaker audio system, 18 inch alloy wheels, and climate control set up for two different zones. Additional options include more or less any bell or whistle you can think of, including heated seats for the front and back, a GPS navigation with a hard drive, leather seating, a sun roof, xenon headlights, a rear view camera, and a sport tuned suspension.

On the downside, the modern SRX is too heavy to accelerate rapidly with what it has under the hood, although it does have good handling and rides smoothly on the freeway.

The first generation of SRX offered a choice between a 260 horsepower V6 engine and a powerful 320 horsepower V8. It offered a third row of seating that was ideal only for small children. When in use, the third row did not leave much room for cargo, however. The V8 offered great performance, but hurt in terms of gas mileage.
